|
|
If we come back to Anguilla this year it will be about our 20th trip...!! We are old Sonesta-Frang-Malli people.
The Trip Advisor reviews of Viceroy are amazing, however, I know there's some discussion among the old-timers. It's clearly a beautiful hotel.
However, my question is about the beach.... We are accustomed to staying in the Junior Suites at Malli, where we basically have our own private beach. How do you get to the beach at Viceroy, and is it Mead's or Barnes?? And if it is Meads, is it at the very far end past Frang, etc? How is the water there? Also, any reviews of the hotel itself.
We've stayed at Malli for about the last 10 years, but it really is getting kind of run down, and we'd like to try a new place.
Any help would be very much appreciated!! Thanks. |

We took a tour of Viceroy and had an enjoyable lunch a few days later. I snapped several pics while there and sent you a PM regarding them. _________________

From what I could tell, Viceroy is situated on Barnes Bay. One of the pools which is directly in front of Aleta's restaurant has a series of steps which take you down to a smaller, very nice beach area. The other can take you down to the lengthy beach toward West End Bay. _________________

We recently returned from a stay on Meads Bay.
The only Viceroy presence that I saw on Meads was next to Turtle's Nest. I thought that it was a sales office, but there were several (10-20) chair/umbrella set ups in front. Occasionally there were a few people using the chairs. Were they shuttled from Viceroy? I did not see them walk by or being transported in the dinghy that went back and forth. That part of Meads (middle) is typically calmer than the west end, but not as calm as near Malli (to the east).
The cliffs at Barnes Bay are scenic, but I never saw the beach as being as inviting as Meads. _________________

the Viceroy building next to Turtles Nest is their "beach club". They are shuttled by van from the main hotel building, or people can walk there via the beach.
Kate from Colorado can provide more detail when she returns, they spent their first 3 nights there, and used the beach club each day, I believe.
Our room at TN overlooked the beach club and the Viceroy gardens (they bought the land next door just for their gardens).
Missing AXA today. We had such a busy few days getting settled back at home, now it's hitting me that the trip is over and the next 12 months will seem like an eternity _________________
