New taxi rates have been approved for 2009.
On Anguilla, the island has been divided into zones and taxi rates are determined by traveling from zone to zone.
For complete details, rates and a map, click this link.

Hmmm! Can't say I blame them for increasing the fares, petrol was US$5.25 per imperial gallon on our last visit in October. I would hope that it has come down since, anyone know the current price?
I also hope that there is a larger map of the zones available - The one on the web site is impossible to read, and I can imagine a lot of arguments stemming from points that lie close to the edge of a zone!
We always enjoy our taxi rides to our house in Sandy Hill, the drivers are truly ambassadors of the Island, and are very welcoming and helpful. They have invested heavily in their vehicles, and deserve to make a decent living! |

Sorry about the map size, we are limited by the size of the website, but we will use the zones on the new Anguilla Guide map when we print. I am sure as always the taxi drivers will know exactly where one starts and the other ends. _________________ Forum Admin. |

Is the new Anguilla Guide map the one that was to be sent out in November? We haven't received ours yet, just checking to make sure it didn't get lost in the mail, as usually happens with our Anguilla Life mag.
Speaking of which, does anyone know if the new issue of Anguilla Life been sent out yet? Thanks.
We love the taxi drivers altho we use taxis just twice while on island - to and from the airport. They always get us up to speed as to what's been happening on Axa since our last visit. |

hi jo. i'm still waiting also. i think its been about 8 weeks. iv'e never been to the island. i'm looking forward to seeing and enjoying all the wonderful things iv'e read from the nice people on this site. i hope i run into someone from this forum. they all share the same love for anguilla. i know that i will too! iv'e been to bermuda many times and also nassau. bermuda is changing, not for the better. the bahamas has always for me been a special place. also to touch on the subject of everybody getting together count us in! my wife can only come for 14 days, she works for the post office and can't arrange 4 consecutive weeks. i know from this site that there are very many friendly people there and i won't feel alone. looking forward to my june 1st arrival. i'm staying between 30 and 60 days. i think that increases my chances of meeting some people from this site. _________________ APRIL ANGUILLA TIME 2009

| Jo, the website is a little confusing, as it states both "2007" and "2005". I assume that the rates posted are "current"? |

| The link to the article above doesn't work for me. Is the article temporarily down or is there another place to get the information? |

I think the airport is in Zone 6 -- it's really hard to read. Meads Bay Beach is in Zone 2. You can see Meads Bay Pond just south of the beach, on the map.
