The Anguilla Guide Forum is a section of the Anguilla Guide.com/myCaribbean.com
The Anguilla Guide provides information and photos about the island of Anguilla.
myCaribbean provides information and photos and the ability to rent private villas on Anguilla. This website is managed by the Anguilla Guide staff and we strive to give travelers to Anguilla information useful for planning a holiday on this island.

Our public forums are dedicated strictly to the subject of travel to the island of Anguilla B.W.I. Please check any personal baggage at the door and observe reasonable standards of civility and courtesy to your fellow traveler.

Flames, slanderous, sensual, abusive, rude, threatening, offensive or any other posts that we generally don't like the tone of will be removed immediately at the complete and total discretion of the Anguilla Guide staff.

Derogatory posts directed against people or businesses will also not be tolerated unless specifics are provided. It is not nearly good enough to say "so-and-so is a jerk" or "such-and-such stinks". Give us some cold, hard facts or expect your post to be pulled.

Off topic posts will be moved to the Off Topic section as will portions of any threads which drift substantially.

Admin and moderators: Anguilla Guide Forum currently has two moderators and a team of administrators. The staff has the ability to edit, delete and ban at their discretion. Any harassment of staff members either public or private will result in a ban of the poster.

Please Enjoy!

Anguilla Guide Staff

Our message board is monitored currently by Luther and Bob and administered by Jo-Art. We try to keep all posted messages "as is", but sometimes messages may be removed and/or edited.
Please do not email or PM the moderator if your post has been deleted. They have been instructed not to answer.
If a post has been removed there is a good reason, leave it at that.

There are also times when a discussion may turn into a disagreement, which is perfectly fine and often times very normal, but if it turns into a discussion that includes rude comments, name calling, or other inappropriate behavior, we may feel it necessary to remove parts of or the entire discussion. We apologize for the times in which we may need to do this, but we only do this because want people to be welcomed here and we want to keep this forum friendly and helpful.

Guidelines
Be nice, and be as friendly as possible. Politely asking for help is much better than demanding help. Kindly suggesting how to do something is much better than barking orders or telling people what they have to do or commenting on their question.

Be patient...and keep learning and reading more - If you are asking a question, don't expect it to be answered...be happy when it is. If you seek advice, be happy when you get help and don't get mad if you don't get answers you were expecting.

Be careful how you say things - It is often times very hard to write in a way that shows how you're feeling or how you mean something to come across. Even if your intentions are good, the way you write something may be taken the wrong way. A very popular way of making sure your feelings are expressed in the way you intend them is to use familiar abbreviations and symbols such as Smile (smiley face) Wink (winking smiley face) Razz (tongue sticking out in jest) ;-( Crying or Very sad (unhappy face) LOL (laughing out loud) and many, many others. Although it may seem silly, it is a very good way to help show your feelings and intentions. It is also considered rude to use ALL CAPITAL LETTERS when typing. It's considered a way of showing that you are yelling and shouting and should only be used to emphasize that feeling.

Note: Any member on this forum may give an opinion or comment about any topic on Anguilla. This includes moderators and admin. This forum is not an advertisement forum and we do not allow paid advertisement. We do however encourage information provided by visitors, locals and businesses on Anguilla.
Example: If your restaurant is having a special and it includes a dinner and musical entertainment by all means send a message to the forum.
If your club or organization is having an event send a message to the forum with date, time and what the event is about.
If you are opening a new business on Anguilla that would be interesting to visitors send a message with time, date and what your business is about.
If you are trying to sell your car, boat or something else put it in Classified.
This forum is all about Anguilla information.

Conclusion - All of guidelines about forum etiquette are in the hope that everyone will get along while helping and sharing with others.
We always urge people to voice their opinions and share their experiences, but we also emphasize to members that you can do this without offending or upsetting others. But, the Admin and moderators have the last say in whether a post if OK or not OK.

Banning
We never want to ban anyone. It is not our intention to eliminate someone for their posted opinions on this forum and we will not do that unless the criticism contains slanderous statements or rude comments.
We will however ban anyone who questions or harasses a moderator or admin. about anything they moderate on the forum.
The Personal Message area is provided so that members can communicate with one another privately, not a way to harass the admin or moderator. If you PM an admin. or moderator with a harassing message you will be banned without explanation. If you use regular email to an admin or moderator with complaints regarding this forum you will be banned, if the moderator chooses to ban you.

Thought I should pop this message up so some newer members can have a look at the guidelines.
I don't know what it is about this time of year, maybe it's the heat but lately we have been getting a lot of PM's and emails from irate members about removal of posts etc.
If you make a comment about an organization or situation we can do nothing about and serves no purpose we will remove it.

However your comments tend to make us very stressed out and since this is a non-pay job for all of us, it makes us want to relieve ourselves of the position.

The purpose of this forum is and has always been to discuss things that might be of interest to people coming to Anguilla.
If a sitiuation is reported it is for information only, comments not needed.

I realize that sometimes members think that their comments are relevant, discussions about businesses or organizations might help them do their job better but you must realize that we have no control over what a business or organization does and there may be situations beyond even their control causing the problem.

Don't talk about the Goverment on this website. We are not controled by the goverment and they do not interfer with us but if they are having a problem with a situation it may be out of their control and there is noting we can do about it.
Making comments about incompetence does not help and has no purpose. If you lived here full time you would more than understand that you are not in Kansas anymore.

Don't complain to the admin. or moderator about a problem you are having on Anguilla. Take it up with the business or organization, not us.

There are forums and blogs out there that have these discussions. Many. Choose that forum for serious discussions on why this and that is happening.

There are some about the government.

http://www.axareality.com

There are more just can't find them at the moment.

We are not afraid to discuss these issues, we simply choose not to as that is not the purpose of this forum.
Thanks
